Just listened to a compelling talk by
– economist, PhD, professor, and long-time libertarian thinker – who dissected, with surgical precision, what’s missing from the economic framework of President Trump’s administration.
For over 200 years, economic theory has been tested, refined, and (mostly) validated by experience. But Trump’s approach? Sabrin argues it often runs counter to those hard-earned lessons.
From his libertarian perspective, he’s deeply concerned. And rightly so. Because for a libertarian purist, it’s painful – even alarming – to watch a U.S. president run the country as if it were America Inc., treating the national economy like a corporate balance sheet to be managed and manipulated.
Tariffs. Trade wars. Industrial policy. These are tools of mercantilism, not of free markets. And Trump’s team?
According to Sabrin, it’s sorely lacking in economists who have truly learned from the wreckage of past policy errors – people grounded in economic reality, not political expediency.
What’s needed? Less regulation. More freedom. A return to policies that respect the individual and the market. Instead, the current measures – especially tariffs – push in the opposite direction. They interfere with trade, distort markets, and ultimately hurt the very people they claim to protect.
Sabrin’s critique wasn’t emotional. It was methodical. Rooted in centuries of economic thought. The warning is clear: without sound economic principles guiding policy, we risk repeating the same mistakes – with predictable, damaging results. It’s a tough pill to swallow for those who cheer Trump’s economic nationalism. But for those who value freedom and prosperity, voices like Sabrin’s are indispensable. #Libertarian #Economics #Trump #Tariffs #Freedom
