Former president Bill Clinton was known as “Slick Willie” for his duplicity in his quest for public office in Arkansas. Clinton was so slick it propelled him to two terms in the White House.
Fast forward to last week’s debate between governors Ron DeSantis and Gavin Newsom moderated by Sean Hannity. I watched the 90-minute showdown and had hoped Hannity or the director would have prevented cross talk by cutting off of the microphone of the governor who was not speaking. Both governors talking at the same time is annoying to the television audience, to say the least.
At any rate, listening to Newsom’s tiresome rhetoric on abortion and so-called LGQBT rights and watching him smirking when DeSantis was speaking and not answering the questions about the deterioration of the quality of life in San Francisco and Los Angele earns him the nickname “Greasy Gavin.” Like a snake slithering on the jungle floor, Newsom is the next generation of Democratic politicians who panders to every left-wing big government agenda.
Newsom therefore is December’s Schmuck of the Month for his elitism and his quest for power as president of the United States.
I still believe Newsom will replace Biden as the Democrat’s presidential nominee next year. However I would not bet the ranch on it, but the stars are lining up for Old Joe to leave the political scene after having served his masters so well in the White House for the past three years.
The first posthumous Mensch of the Month goes to the Charlie Munger, who died last week just shy of his 100th birthday. His remarkable life as Warren Buffett’s long-time friend vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, philanthropist and other remarkable achievements are a testimony to values of America’s heartland.
In short, Munger had a “wonderful life,” and for all the accolades he received the one that stands out for me he was a “straight shooter” and did not suffer fools lightly.
American businesses need more Charlie Mungers and hopefully his life be an example and guide current and future entrepreneurs.
