Last Friday former president Trump spoke at the Lee County Republican dinner, where he said Florida is a great place to live. See https://nypost.com/2023/04/22/trump-calls-florida-a-great-place-hours-campaign-derides-it-as-worst/
Yet his campaign set an email with this missive “The real DeSantis record is one of misery and despair. He has left a wake of destruction all across Florida and people are hurting because he has spent more time playing public relations games instead of actually doing the hard-work (sic) needed to improve the lives of the people he represents.” See the full article.
For Trump’s campaign to call Florida one of the worst places to live in America is worse than disingenuous. It is stupid. Trump moved to Florida several years ago…because it is a terrible place to live? What does that say about Trump’s judgment if he believes his campaign’s assessment about Florida?
Moreover, stating Florida is descending into a dystopian nightmare reveals how desperate the Trump campaign is, and to add insult to injury implying Floridians are dumb for living in the Sunshine state. How obnoxious.
In addition, the Trump campaign took a page out of the left-wing playbook when it accused DeSantis of not doing enough “to improve the lives of the people he represents.” This phrase could have been uttered by Bernie Sanders or AOC.
Government should just get out of the way of entrepreneurs so they can produce the goods and services people want. Thus, to improve the lives of the people all levels of government should deregulate, privatize, and cut taxes.
I have lived in Florida since June 2021 and would not trade living in southwest Florida for any location in America. Even if Joe Biden issued an executive order exempting my wife and me from the federal income tax, I would not move back to New Jersey. Ditto if Gov. Murphy exempted us from all New Jersey taxes—income, property, and sales taxes.
Trump should focus his criticism on Joe Biden and the dark haired “valley gal” Kamala Harris.
I will have more on Trump later in the week.
